Lonicera Heckrotti Goldflame - Honeysuckle Goldflame - Syn American Beauty, Plant in 9cm Pot
picture
Features:-
Honeysuckle is one of the best known and widest grown garden plants. Lonicera heckrotti Goldflame is a less vigorous grower and does not twine like other climbing honeysuckles so will require support. If desired it can be trained into a medium size shrub. Despite it's less rampant growth it is a very reliable robust and disease resistant variety and produces deep pink tubular flowers with deep yellow interiors giving an overall bi-colour effect. Produced in abundance they have a one of the strongest fragrances of all Honeysuckles. Except in cold winters it is generally a semi-evergreen plant. The flowers of Goldflame (similar to all climbing Honeysuckles) are partiuclarly well adapted to attract Hummingbirds however I guess sadly this is not much of an advantage in the Uk!Can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot or container. Requires a frame work of some description and a little time to secure it to the frame. If it becomes to large it can easily be cut back. When growing in a pot or other container. Use a good quality John Innes compost as this plant will be there a long time and peaty types of compost eventually degrade and become too packed and choke the roots. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 12-14 month applied in early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. John Innes is a soils based compost.

Lonicera Lonicera fragrantissima - Winter Flowering Honeysuckle, Plant in 9cm Pot
picture
Features:-
Native to China Lonicera fragrantissima was introduced to the Uk. in 1845 by the famous Scottish plant collector, Robert Fortune, who had been on expedition on behalf of the RHS. As a shrub, Lonicera fragrantissima will not require any support, however it will produce more flowers if planted against a wall in a warm sunny location. If you would like winter interest, or a winter section to your garden, this has to be one plants to be included. In summer it is just a green bush, but in winter, when most else is resting, it awakens and astounds. The flowers are creamy white and produced along the branches from December to March. In milder weather they are present in large numbers. As you walk past, especially on milder days, you will marvel at how such a fragrance can be produced and especially in the dead of winter! Excellent as a cut flower but avoid cutting in frosty weather. Can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot or container. If it becomes to large it can easily be cut back in spring. When growing in a pot or other container. Use a good quality John Innes compost as this plant will be there a long time and peaty types of compost eventually degrade and become too packed and choke the roots. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year.
