Some Key Terms


Clerestory - an extra level of glazing between the top of a glazed wall and the roof.
 
Finial - a decorative feature fitted at the apex of a roof.
 
Flashing - lead sheeting attached at the point where the sunroom structure joins the house wall - to keep water out.
 
Latex - rubber based material used as a levelling and adhesive compound.
 
Lintel - a short beam carrying a wall across an opening.
 
Mastic - non-settiing filler - also known as caulk.
 
Mullion - vertical division in a window.
 
Napp - slope of the carpet tile.
 
Nosing - the rounded-over edge of a timber head.
 
Ogee - an S-shaped decorative molding.
 
Pilaster - rectangular column forming part of a wall - ornamental molding.
